With the establishment and establishment of some large hospitals, the use of electrocardiograms has become more and more frequent, and among the many classifications of medical record paper, electrocardiograms are also the most typical one. So how do we see ourselves when we get our ECG drawings? Below, the editor will briefly introduce how to read the electrocardiogram.

The ECG is composed of a series of wave groups, each wave group represents each cardiac cycle. A wave group includes P waves, QRS complexes, T waves, and U waves. Looking at an ECG starts with understanding what each wave represents.

1.) P Wave of ECG: The excitation of the heart originates from the sinoatrial node and then conducts to the atrium. P wave is produced by atrial depolarization and is the first wave in each wave group. It reflects the depolarization process of left and right atrium. The first half represents the right atrium, and the second half represents the left atrium.

2.) QRS Complex: A typical QRS complex consists of three closely connected waves. The first downward wave is called the Q wave, and a high-pointed upright wave following the Q wave is called the R wave. After the R wave Downward waves are called S waves. Because they are closely connected and reflect the ventricular electrical excitation process, they are collectively referred to as QRS complexes. This complex reflects the depolarization process of the left and right ventricles.

3.) EKG T Wave: T wave is located after the S-T segment and is a relatively low and long wave, which is produced by ventricular repolarization.

4.) U Wave on ECG Chart: U wave is located after T wave, which is relatively low and small, and its occurrence mechanism is not completely clear. It is generally considered to be the “post-stimulus potential” of myocardial excitation.
